"I Love U Guys" Fund-Raiser Brings Together Bikers, Law Enforcement and Community

Bailey, Colo. (October 2, 2007) - The I Love U Guys Foundation, created a year ago to honor Platte Canyon High School student Emily Keyes, announced today the results of Saturday's 2nd Annual Emily's Parade.

This year's event consisted of a motorcycle ride from Columbine High School to Platte Canyon High School and a simultaneous run. A total of 1,625 motorcycles riders participated in the ride - more than half with a passenger. More than 150 people participated in the run including the Jefferson County Regional SWAT Team which ran the 38 miles from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, in Golden, to Bailey. Casey Keyes, Emily's twin brother, ran with the SWAT team. Upon reaching Bailey, the SWAT Team was joined by other law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and some of the PCHS cross country team for the "Final Five" - the last five kilometers from the town of Bailey to Platte Canyon High School.

"It is beyond inspiring that so many people from such diverse backgrounds pulled together to make this event a success," said "I Love U Guys" Foundation Director Jonathan Cleary. "Our hope is that people will stay engaged with the foundation and support future initiatives and programming between now and the3rd annual Emily's Parade in 2008.

Net proceeds from The Ride totaled $26,509. The Foundation is donating 100 percent of these net proceeds to three local charities: Bridges to Peace, a Conifer-based company that provides violence prevention and personal development programs for students; Colorado Uplift, a Denver non profit organization dedicated to building long-term, life-changing relationships with at-risk urban youth; and Step 13, a non profit resource that provides assistance to homeless men in Denver who are committed to returning to a self-sustaining, productive life. The net proceeds of The Run totaling $10,240 plus proceeds from bracelet and T-shirt sales will be used to fund future programming and initiatives for the "I Love U Guys" Foundation.
